Gender & Climate

The Gender and Climate programme empowers women and gender-diverse leaders, particularly from marginalised communities, to drive contextual climate solutions by building leadership, creating space for their voices to be heard, and reshaping narratives.

The programme cultivates and supports a network of leaders through collaborative prototyping and learning, enabling scalable systemic solutions to emerge. It facilitates cross-sector connections among academics, governments, and media to amplify impact.

The programme is currently present in Maharashtra, Delhi, Jharkhand, Karnataka, and Odisha, working on themes including clean cooking, commons, health, livelihoods, local governance, and grassroots journalism.

Impact:

Strengthened over 5,000 new voices of women from marginalised communities across four states in India on climate policy and governance to drive more gender-responsive decision making on climate solutions.

Built new evidence to bring about a shift in the narratives on climate discourse and perspectives on equity and justice through media and academic partnerships.

Leveraged systems such as government, communities, and institutions to bring about a shift in mindset and behaviour to deliver gender-equal climate solutions such as clean cooking.
