Simplifying Science: Why India’s Air Pollution Doesn’t Stay Where It’s Created
Why doesn’t air pollution stay where it is created? In this episode of Simplifying Science, Asar Social Impact Advisors explores a 25-year study by researchers at Bose Institute, Kolkata, examining aerosol pollution across the Indo-Gangetic Plain, North-East India and the Himalayas. Using satellite observations and atmospheric data from 2000 to 2024, the study examines rising aerosol pollution, the role of biomass burning and how pollution can travel across regions to affect fragile Himalayan ecosystems.
