With over 20 years of experience in strategic communications and journalism, Nitya’s role is to advance Asar’s vision of building and empowering sub-national networks to address climate change challenges in India. She endeavours to support this ambitious vision by delivering a nimble and effective communications strategy, building thought leadership across the network and through impactful storytelling. Before Asar, Nitya has worked as head, communications, WRI India; led programme communications at WWF-India. She has spent a decade as a print journalist in Mumbai, including serving as an environment correspondent in The Indian Express. Nitya has a penchant for writing. She is a sustainable traveller who enjoys exploring non-touristy small towns in her free time. She lives in Mumbai with her husband, Noel, and her feline flatmates.
