Asar has been working in Tamil Nadu since 2020 to mitigate, adapt to, and build resilience against the impacts of climate change, along with our partner organisations. We are committed to facilitating decentralised climate planning and action through engagement with state departments and the local governance system.
Impact
Mapping rooftop solar potential and promoting the uptake of rooftop solar in Chennai as part of our three-year MoU with TANGEDCO (Tamil Nadu DISCOM).
Asar and Poovulagin Nanbargal have worked together to design climate literacy modules for upper elementary and lower secondary students and attendant teacher training modules, commissioned and launched by the Tamil Nadu Climate Mission. This will be used across all the government schools in the state in their Eco Clubs.
Enhancing the adoption of energy efficiency and conservation in the health sector.
Engaging with young people across the State through our partner Poovulagin Nanbargal, reaching approximately 20,000 school and college students.
Conducted a climate literacy workshop with Poovulagin Nanbargal for elected representatives in Tamil Nadu, attended by 40 Members of the Legislature of Tamil Nadu, 6 Members of Parliament, and members of the planning commission of the State.
