Punjab
Our work in Punjab is centred around addressing critical issues such as air pollution, waste management, construction and demolition (C&D) waste, and the transition to electric vehicles (EVs). This is a new state for the broader climate work, however, our air quality interventions have built bridges with a spectrum of stakeholders , including citizens, municipalities, and government officials, fostering collaborative and innovative solutions to some of the most pressing climate issues of our times.

Impact
Engaged with farmers over the past two years, conducting in-depth collaborative research to prevent stubble burning, resulting in a report suggesting measures to the government for effective prevention of stubble burning. We have adopted 23 villages, committing to achieving zero stubble burning.
Mobilised young people across Punjab and engaged with them on the issue of air quality, sustaining a year-round dialogue that culminated in a youth summit in 2023. Implemented an air quality education programme in 221 schools in Ludhiana, launched in July 2024.
Hosted multiple hubs across different cities in Punjab, maintaining continuous collaboration with Urban Local Bodies (ULBs), government authorities, and other stakeholders to address air quality issues.
Signed an MoU with the Ludhiana municipality to provide ICE materials and trained over 550 sanitation workers.
Clean Air Punjab Hub members have engaged with over 200 women in Amritsar, encouraging them to opt for electric autos. These women were convened and informed about the policy offering a 90% subsidy for electric autos under the RAAHI scheme.
