Energy Transition
The Energy Transition vertical’s primary objective is to support state governments, cities, local governance systems and MSMES transition to a more efficient, sustainable energy system. India’s energy transition is a critical shift from fossil fuels to renewable sources to meet growing energy demands while addressing climate change. The country has ambitious renewable energy goals, but is also grappling with growing demand and a transformation of its electricity infrastructure.
Asar is working with DISCOMs, MSMEs, and consumers to enable exponential increaes in decentralised energy systems that are sustainable and efficient and economically viable.
The programme focuses on:
● Establishing lighhouse projects through collaboration in target states working closely with key government agencies and supporting them in rolling out flagship mitigation programmes (solar rooftop in Chennai, BESS model in 3000 villages in Kerala, DRE in Bihar etc)
● Developing tailored strategies for sectors specific opportunities, with a focus on MSMEs, implementation of DRE solutions and addressing just transition.
● Addressign Just Transition through civil society networks that engage in constructive dialogue and deliberation on solutions with communties.
We work in this space across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand and look to initiate work in Punjab and Karnataka.
